    Ive just started to get into calf roping and team roping, and im having some trouble with my swing. I start off good until I loosen my rope to feed more then I always figure 8, its not alot but its noticeable in video. If you know how i could fix this it would be appreciated.

      Hey I’ve had the same exact problem especially when I first started out ropin when I was in jr high, I hung around my cousin a bunch who got me into ropin and he’s a 6 1/2 header anyways my delivery was always very sloppy and he pointed that out to me, turns out I fed my loop on the backside of my swing so what I learned is you have to feed your loop in the front instead of the back and and after that I was very consistent with gettin slick horns I used to always get half heads but that solved the majority of my problems for me headin.

    Good video. I don't wear spurs on my horse. An older gentleman told me years ago that most people are terrible at using spurs and if you teach your horse where it's supposed to be and let them enjoy their job spurs are more hindrance than help. When I start training a horse I have spurs on but they're the last step in the communication process, the yell so to speak. The softer cues, communication, you can use to get your horse to respond the easier your part of the job is. IMO

  • @denisetrujillo4907
    @denisetrujillo4907 Рік тому

    Agreed. Completely. Most people use spurs like a weapon. Lateral movement is what a spur is designed for. Spurring will actually take the run out of your horse. Make them dull and resentful if that's how you're trying to get them to run.
